April 2024 UPDATE: Radiology Associates is pleased to share that we are now able to provide even more care for patients in Vulcan! We have recently received AHS approval to perform ultrasounds on inpatients admitted to Vulcan Hospital. This will help reduce delays in patient care and free up EMS services for other patient emergencies. In collaboration with VCHWF and AHS, we are committed to continue to advocate for improving medical imaging access in and around Vulcan County.
Radiology Associates is thrilled to now be offering ultrasound examinations locally at the Vulcan Clinic. It has been our goal for many months to have this service available by winter to save patients from having to drive an hour each way in hazardous conditions. As diagnostic imaging specialists who live and work in Southern Alberta, we are passionate about ensuring rural sites, the breadbasket and lifeblood of our province, have access to the same level and quality of care as the cities. As such, we have been working hard over recent years to also offer this service in Taber, Cardston, Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass, and soon Claresholm.
Initially, outpatient ultrasounds in Vulcan will be scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday between 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Additional weekdays will be made available as needed.
We want to sincerely thank the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation and Alberta Health Services for helping facilitate this service, without whom it would not have been possible. As they rallied around this project, it was readily apparent that both of these organizations have patient care as their primary objective.
